OnShelf is Bookmarked’s product that embodies our commitment to a balanced approach in maintaining vibrant libraries. It provides comprehensive support and data, enabling administrators, librarians, and parents to make informed decisions and streamline the review process, fostering an enlightened and expansive educational experience.

How does Bookmarked handle book censorship or proliferation?

Our mission is centered on enhancing literacy, not book censorship or proliferation. We believe that books should be readily available on library shelves, and the decision to remove them should rest with the administration, guided by fact-based research and input from parents regarding their individual children.

What is the main goal of Bookmarked?

At Bookmarked, our fundamental goal is to equip schools and parents with the necessary tools and information to make well-informed decisions regarding the literature available to students. We advocate for a nuanced approach that places trust in the hands of both administrators and parents.

How does Bookmarked support librarians?

Bookmarked is committed to serving as a resource to support and safeguard librarians. Our technology, OnShelf, provides data to support the evaluation, selection, acquisition, reconsideration, and deselection of library materials, alleviating burdensome tasks and enabling librarians to focus on guiding children through their literary journey.

What is Bookmarked’s stance on neutrality?

In a cultural landscape characterized by diverse perspectives and evolving societal norms, neutrality is paramount. Bookmarked does not seek to advance any particular agenda but rather to serve as a facilitator of dialogue and informed decision-making, empowering stakeholders with the tools and information needed to navigate the complexities of book selection.

How does Bookmarked address parental choice in book selection?

Bookmarked allows parents to select books for their own children only, ensuring they have control over their child's reading material without impacting the freedom of other students to read diverse literature. This approach respects individual family values while maintaining access to a broad range of books for all students.

How does Bookmarked ensure that libraries have a diverse collection?

Bookmarked’s platform empowers educators and librarians to efficiently manage the selection of age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned, and diverse collections that foster intellectual growth and inclusivity, promoting a conducive environment for a love of reading and learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about Bookmarked, Book Intelligence, and how we work with districts.

?
What is Bookmarked?

Bookmarked is an intelligence platform for school libraries. Our Book Intelligence engine gathers everything publicly known about books — from reviews and news coverage to district actions and community discussions — and organizes it so librarians and administrators can make confident collection decisions in minutes instead of weeks.

What is Book Intelligence?

Book Intelligence is the engine underneath our OnShelf platform. It aggregates publicly available information about books from six source categories — public reviews, news and media, district actions, book metadata, organization flags, and community forums — and turns it into organized, actionable intelligence profiles.

Does Bookmarked read the actual content of books?

No. Book Intelligence describes what is publicly known about books. We aggregate external sources — reviews, ratings, news coverage, district decisions, and community feedback — but we never read, scan, or process actual book content.

How many districts use Bookmarked?

Over 150 Texas districts trust Bookmarked, serving more than 500,000 students. We also partner with 9 Education Service Centers.

How does onboarding work?

Getting started is simple. Your Customer Success partner works with you through a structured onboarding plan — typically, districts are up and running within their first week.

What does Bookmarked cost?

Pricing is based on district size and the modules you need. Book a meeting and we'll share transparent pricing tailored to your district.

Is my district's data secure?

Absolutely. District data is isolated — no district can see another district's information. We follow industry best practices for encryption, access controls, and data handling.

Can parents access Bookmarked?

Yes. Our OnShelf Engage module gives parents and guardians visibility into their child's library activity — what they're reading, what's available, and how they can participate.

Do you work with Education Service Centers?

Yes — we partner with 9 ESCs across Texas for regional training, coordinated onboarding, and ongoing professional development.

How is Bookmarked different from other library tools?

Most library tools help you manage what you already have. Bookmarked helps you make better decisions about what to include in your collection. Our Book Intelligence engine provides context and confidence that traditional tools don't offer.
